Aveiro, Portugal.
“Bridging the gap between HE and the labor market” was the second training course of the Back2Basics project. It was held in Aveiro, Portugal, and hosted by the University of Aveiro. This course was specifically directed at HE teachers and young people educators and the goal was to allow them to learn more about the different digital skills valued by the labor market and how these skills can be fostered in the classroom.
Despite most HE students being accustomed to the digital setting, many lack the digital skills required in most labor market environments. As such, this training course was developed in the hope that participants would be challenged to think of small changes to introduce in their classes to develop higher education students’ digital skills. For four days, the participants had the opportunity to learn more about topics such as online communication and netiquette, information literacy, cybersecurity, health protection and well-being, and online content creation, and how to integrate such topics in the classroom. It was also a great opportunity for teachers and educators to share experiences, ideas and feedback among themselves and with the Back2Basics project team that will certainly be very useful for all the project’s results and outputs.
